True Respect

We want to help make our world a place worth living in for future generations. That's why we care about a fair, sustainable and environmentally friendly production process from the cotton plant to the finished jeans. Respecting the planet and conserving its resources is a natural part of our ethos.

Production

We aim to keep our end product as environmentally friendly as possible. To do this, we expect our suppliers to comply with clear standards. The basis for this is the "Restricted Substances List" (RSL).

As a next step, we have decided to implement ZDHC MRSL in our supply chain and become a 'Friend of ZDHC (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals)' since Q3 2022. While the RSL applies to the article, the ZDHC's MRSL starts one step earlier in the factory and includes chemical substances whose intended use in the manufacture of apparel and footwear materials and trims is limited or prohibited to protect workers, consumers and the environment. The tools provided by ZDHC allow for step-by-step compliance with the MRSL via effluent testing and disclosed chemical inventories.

Participation in the ZDHC Foundation's Roadmap to Zero program provides the perfect support for us and our suppliers to work together to make global supply chains a little cleaner.

Packaging

As of 2021, all items shipped from our online store are packaged in recycled paper that is made of up to 30% grass fiber. Our adhesive tape is also made of paper.

Plastic packaging takes a long time to decompose and can pollute the environment for decades. Microplastics harm microorganisms, affecting the entire food chain. That is why we are trying to reduce our use of plastic packaging by using recycled materials or simply doing without.

Sustainable headquarter

Sustainability is a holistic concept for us. That is why we are working every day to reduce our environmental impact.

We moved into our new headquarters in Schwäbisch Hall at the beginning of 2020. There we use 100% green electricity. In order to save additional electricity, we have converted our lighting to LED across the board. This enabled us to reduce our electricity consumption by around 40% as a result of the move.

Our corporate headquarters are centrally located and easily accessed by public transport. We subsidize the monthly tickets of employees who take the bus or train to work.

We want to offer our employees even more sustainable mobility by 2024. To this end, we are planning to set up an ebike leasing scheme, among other things.

We use sustainable office materials and have switched to water dispensers with glass bottles so that our everyday lives are even more resource efficient. We use Ecosia as the default search engine on all our laptops and computers. Ecosia devotes 100% of its profits to supporting climate projects and at least 80% to financing reforestation projects.

We only use fair-trade coffee in our corporate headquarters. Our vending machines are stocked by a regional supplier.

Our environmental guidelines serve to strengthen the sense of responsibility of all employees. They form the basis on which our daily actions at Mustang are built and at the same time serve as a decision-making aid and orientation

Climate neutrality

Our goal is clear: We want to achieve complete climate neutrality. Our online store and shipping have been climate-neutral since 2021, as has our parcel delivery service with our partners.

For our online shop, we cooperate with Deutsche Post DHL GoGreen, which offsets CO2 emissions generated during transport by investing in internationally recognised climate protection programmes. We are currently able to deliver to stores and wholesale customers 65% climateneutrally.
Our freight forwarders are working to reduce CO2 by optimising routes or using trucks powered by electricity or liquefied natural gas.

We avoid transporting our goods by air freight, continue to work on reducing our carbon footprint throughout the supply chain and use sustainable suppliers.

We work with myClimate Deutschland GmbH to offset the CO2 emissions of our vehicle fleet.
